Abstract:
Carry out a study on the ecology of a habitat, such as using quadrats and transects to determine distribution and abundance of organisms, and measuring abiotic factors appropriate to the habitat.
Hints & Tips:
- A Braeman funnel is used to trap nematodes in a water or soil sample: a funnel with a rubber tube and (Hoffman) clip attached is clamped in place test to make sure NO water leaks from the tube.
Place a collecting beaker beneath. Add muslin containing the sample and fill the funnel with water.
Leave for 24+ hours. to collect nematodes open the clip and allow the water to flow into the beaker. This will contain nematodes.
- Used for extracting small (land) organisms from soil samples.
